You don’t need to be a professional to train like an elite athlete. Across gyms, tracks, and training floors worldwide, everyday athletes are discovering that the same sensor technology used by elite sports can transform their own performance. And the results speak for themselves.

In the Red Bull Road to HYROX Vienna training programme led by head coach Maximilian Walter of Zone.fit in Vienna, athletes used the Output Sensor to objectively track their training—and saw an average 10% improvement in their HYROX Conditioning Test scores testing at the start and end of their training program.

The below graph depicts a very strong correlation between Hyrox Conditioning Test Score and Hyrox Completion Time (R=0.84). This indicates that the 10% improvement in Hyrox Conditioning Test Scores should correlate with improved Hyrox Completion Time for the athletes. This helps to give the athletes confidence that the training they put in should result in Hyrox better competition time.

The Challenge: Moving Beyond Guesswork

For most recreational athletes, training can feel like a guessing game. Did that session actually make you fitter? Are you pushing hard enough—or too hard? Without objective data, it’s impossible to know. Without the data being easy to understand and take action on, it's just data.

Max’s athletes faced exactly this challenge. Preparing for HYROX—a fitness race combining running with functional workout stations—demands precise load management, power development, and the ability to maintain running form under fatigue. Subjective feel alone doesn’t cut it.

The Output Difference: Data That Changes Behaviour

By equipping each athlete with an Output sensor, Max’s team gained access to real-time, objective metrics on Velocity-Based Training sessions: power output, intensity, fatigue levels, and movement quality. This data didn’t just sit in a dashboard—it fundamentally changed how training decisions were made.

"The OUTPUT sensor has been a true game changer for us. The ability to objectively track intensity, power output, fatigue, and movement quality has fundamentally changed how we evaluate training effectiveness."

With Output, the coaching team could make data-driven decisions on load management, progression, and individual focus areas—adjustments that would be invisible without objective measurement. This allowed coaches to control the stimulus, ensuring athletes were able to take on hard running sessions without lasting fatigue from the gym floor.

The Results: Proof in the Numbers

After a structured training block, the athletes completed a re-test of the HYROX Conditioning Test. The results were clear: an average improvement of approximately 10% across overall scores, with consistent gains in every individual metric.

More than that, athletes reported increased confidence and buy-in—when you can see your progress in black and white, motivation takes care of itself.

It allows us to move beyond subjective impressions and make data-driven decisions. This has not only improved performance outcomes, but also significantly increased athlete confidence and buy-in, as progress is now clearly visible and measurable.

Why This Matters for Every Athlete

You don’t need to be training for HYROX to benefit. Whether you’re chasing a 5K personal best, building strength in the gym, or simply trying to stay consistent, the Output sensor gives you the same edge that Coach Walter’s athletes are using:

See what’s actually working. Stop guessing whether your programme is effective. Output tracks power, velocity, and fatigue so you can validate your approach with real numbers.

Train smarter, not just harder. Objective intensity data helps you push when you should push and recover when you should recover—reducing injury risk and maximising gains.

Stay motivated with visible progress. When improvement is measurable, consistency follows. It’s the difference between hoping you’re getting better and knowing it.
